An Evening of Food, Fun & Philanthropy

Gallery Helios is organising an awareness session on Friday, 21 January 2011, for Gabriel Teo and the Tana River Life Foundation.

Gabriel Teo, the founder of Tana River Life Foundation is back in town and Gallery Helios is hosting a session for Gabriel to meet folks who have contributed or supported the foundation. There will be some children’s art for sale, the proceeds of which will be contributed to the foundation. Gabriel will update us on the inspiring work the foundation has been doing as well as the progress on the past year’s projects. The takings for the dinner will be donated to the foundation.

Time : Friday, January 21 · 7:00pm – 10:00pm
Location : Gallery Helios, 38 Petain Road, Singapore

Gabriel has been living and working with the poor in rural Kenya since 1995. In 2005, he founded Tana River Life Foundation, a non-profit organisation, which supports sustainable living in rural Kenya. This foundation helps women and children from poor villages in the Tana River delta receive education and obtain skills to achieve self-sufficiency. He believes that when mothers are provided a means to a livelihood, their children will be fed and educated, thereby creating a virtuous cycle. Gabriel builds schools, gives out scholarships, promotes sustainable agriculture and helps women supplement their family incomes through the sale of second-hand items donated in Singapore and Malaysia.

More information on the Tana River Life Foundation is available at http://www.tanariverlifefoundation.org

There will also be some children’s art for sale during the evening.

This event is ticketed at $80 per person, which includes wine and a selection of hors d’oeuvres prepared by JAM, a young, innovative trio of culinary talent recently featured in Epicure Asia Magazine and the Business Times.

The proceeds of the evening will be donated to the Foundation.

Please RSVP by Wednesday, 19 January 2011.

I’m enclosing the request from 2010, as the items requested remains largely the same.
